How to Reduce the Cost of Your Golf Balls
If you think that the cost of golf is over once you arrive at the golf course and pay your green fees,
think again.
One of the most expensive things that a golfer has to spend money on is not what you
would expect. Golf balls are perhaps the most irritating thing that a golfer buys. He seems to buy them
over and over, as they disappear into bushes, lakes, or out of bounds. Good golf balls can be pretty
expensive as well. If you want to save some money on golf balls, here are some tips.
While you are
playing your golf game, take some time walking along the perimeter of the of the fairway or near out of
bounds areas. Sometimes you can easily spot golf balls in these areas. Another is near water hazards.
Sometimes golf balls are just under the surface, and if you have a ball extracting rod to extract the
golf balls or you don?t mind getting your hands wet there may be good golf balls for the
picking.
Golf is a game of high etiquette, so for heavens sake if there is any chance the ball is
in play for someone else, leave it there, as the golf ball could have quite easily come from another
fairway. Also, don?t spend any unnecessary time looking for golf balls as this can slow down the game of
golf.
Another novel way to acquire golf balls is to entice your golf partner for a challenge. You
would do this if you are playing well, and of course, if your playing partner has some nice golf balls
that you wouldn?t mind owning. Do best of 3 or 5 so that you don?t lose out if you happen to have a bad
hole.
I?ve also picked up golf balls at great rates through eBay and other on-line auctions.
Buying bulk works best, but be mindful of the shipping charges.
You can also buy used golf balls
from the Pro Shop or other golf stores, as many quality golf balls are available at a good price. Unless
you are more than just a casual golfer, used or second-hand balls will probably work just fine. It takes
a very trained hand to be able to tell the difference between a new ball and a used ball, or between an
expensive ball and a cheap ball.
Sort your golf balls to your playing preference. If you like the
high spin balls, keep them all together. If you play with long distance golf balls, keep them
together.
Buying boxes of new golf balls does add up. So, it makes sense to get all of your golf
balls for free or for a discounted rate. By buying well, or acquiring golf balls at little cost, you will
notice a significantly large saving and it?s still money in your pocket that wouldn?t have been there
otherwise. Therefore, you should remember the golf ball savings techniques that have been discussed.
When you don't pay top price for your golf balls you will never worry about the water hazard in front of
your next golf shot.
